Son sues VA hospital for medical malpractice after father's death

Veteran's medical centers tend to be busy and hectic, especially in large areas like Washington, D.C. No matter where the VA hospital is located and how busy it is, however, that's no excuse for medical negligence, especially not when it results in death. In another state, a grieving son has filed a medical malpractice suit alleging this and more.

The man is suing a VA hospital with allegations that his father did not receive adequate care there. This negligence, the complaint maintains, ultimately led to the late father's untimely death. The man's recently filed complaint alleges numerous counts, among them medical malpractice, false imprisonment, negligence and wrongful death.

The plaintiff's father was under the care of the Overton Brook's VA Medical Center for approximately four months in 2015. He holds that the negligence of the employees there led to the deterioration of his father's medical condition, ultimately resulting in his death in Aug. 2015. The lawsuit names as defendant the United States of America, whom the plaintiff holds responsible because the defendant's employees allegedly falsified medical records, failed to provide the father with suitable nutrition, and did not treat signs of his intestinal bleed, among other accusations.

For this, the grieving son is requesting a trial by jury. He is seeking damages totaling over $4 million after costs, interests and other relief. Residents of Washington, D.C., who have similarly lost a loved one to medical negligence are likely sad, confused and angry, and such individuals may benefit from exploring their legal rights with an attorney experienced in cases involving medical malpractice.
