Hospital, others accused of failing to provide accurate diagnosis

In Washington, D.C., just like anywhere else in the country, when an individual is having health problems and consults a physician, he or she expects to be given the proper medical care. Because most people know little about medical matters, they are forced to rely on doctors for an accurate diagnosis, trusting them to address their health issues before they become even more troublesome or fatal. One woman's estate administrator, however, was forced to file a complaint against several medical organizations and doctors, when they allegedly failed to provide an accurate diagnosis, with devastating results.

Consumers allege Samsung washing machine still dangerous product

In November 2016, Samsung issued a recall for almost three million of its defective washing machines found in homes in Washington, D.C., and across the nation. However, many worried consumers are now claiming that they are stuck with a dangerous product in their homes, even though the company promised to repair the appliance. There has even been a proposal for a class action lawsuit against the company.

Child's tonsillectomy death leads to medical malpractice suit

It's the third most common childhood surgical procedure, performed daily on children in Washington D.C., with approximately 530,000 tonsillectomies done each year in the United States. However, what should have been a routine operation turned into every parent's worst nightmare when a 9-year-old girl died within hours of her tonsillectomy. The little girl's distraught family is understandably demanding answers as they plan to file a medical malpractice lawsuit against the medical center where the girl underwent the surgery.

Washington, D.C. vapers beware: E-cigs might be dangerous product

The popularity of the vaping devices known as e-cigarettes is on the rise. These vaping devices, used in Washington, D.C. and nationwide, are touted as a safer, healthier alternative to smoking. However, it's hard to argue about a product's safety when the number of incidents involving explosions and fires caused by the apparently dangerous product is increasing. In fact, on Sept. 25, 2016, yet another product liability lawsuit was filed, this time against the shop that sold a device. It exploded, resulting in a man being seriously burned.

Suit claims hospital failure leads to infant brain damage, death

To expectant mothers in Washington, D.C. and around the world, almost nothing could be more important than the health and well-being of their unborn children. Because of this, women put their trust in obstetricians and hospitals to help keep their babies safe. When the health care professionals charged with this task fail to take this duty seriously, any resulting brain damage or health problems can be serious or even deadly.

Patient alleges surgical errors, negligence in malpractice suit

Whether for residents of Washington, D.C. or across the nation, a high quality of life is often directly linked with good health. To maintain good health, individuals place their well-being in the hands of doctors and surgeons. People have to be able to trust that their medical professionals are not only well-trained, but that they have their patients' best interests at heart -- before, during and after medical procedures. What is a patient to do, then, when surgical errors leave him in pain, and then the health care professional compounds the mistake by providing inadequate follow-up care?

Lawsuit claims FieldTurf is a defective product

An artificial playing surface known as FieldTurf was supposed to be a high performance, weather resistant and durable alternative to grass. The owners of many sports fields, in Washington, D.C. and across the nation, were lured into using the product by the manufacturer's claims that it was a long-lasting alternative to natural grass that required less upkeep. However, Tarkett, the parent company who manufactures the turf, is now facing multiple lawsuits alleging that the defective product has failed to perform as expected.
