Ikea recalls dangerous product, settles for $50M after 3 dead

A law firm announced recently that Ikea reached a $50 million settlement with the families of children who were crushed by dressers manufactured by the company. A total of three children were killed by the falling furniture before the dangerous product was recalled by Ikea. Residents of Washington, D.C., who may have purchased this dresser, known as the Malm model, should know that it is considered dangerous and has been recalled to prevent further injury or death.

Dump truck accident in Washington, D.C. injures 2 children

A dump truck was involved in a motor vehicle accident before finally crashing into the side of a house in Southeast Washington, D.C. on a recent Tuesday. The dump truck first hit two vehicles, both containing passengers, then plowed into an Oxon Hill home. The truck accident left two children injured and resulted in significant property damage.

I-295 DC car crash declared mass casualty event

In what officials are declaring a mass casualty event, ten people were sent to the hospital early one recent morning. A major car crash involving four vehicles occurred on I-295 in Northeast DC. The accident occurred just before 6 a.m., according to tweets from DC Fire and EMS.

J&J product liability case may affect Washington DC residents

A jury in Texas ordered Johnson & Johnson to pay over $1 billion in a recent settlement. The product liability lawsuit against the company claimed they covered up defects in their product, Pinnacle artificial hips, which then had to be removed surgically. This lawsuit took place in Texas, but Johnson & Johnson still faces approximately 8,900 similar cases accusing them of mishandling the artificial hips, and residents of Washington D.C. or anywhere in the nation could be affected by the faulty product.
