2 injured in accident caused by driver of stolen truck

Often, when car accidents take place, they're a result of distractions or reckless driving. The driver who is responsible for the accident can be held liable for it in most circumstances, allowing you to seek out the compensation necessary to pay for your medical costs, lost wages and other expenses. As a victim, you are entitled to file a claim against the driver responsible for your injuries.

Car accidents can sometimes be a result of dangerous driving. For instance, in this case in Washington, D.C., a driver caused a multi-vehicle accident on July 21 around midnight, resulting in the closure of the highway. The driver, who is accused of stealing a Ford truck, hit a Metropolitan Police cruiser that was parked on the side of the road in the southbound lane near Exit 1 on Interstate 295.

At the time, one officer was inside and there were two other officers at the scene, where they were helping a third party with a flat tire. The collision resulted in the officer and truck's driver suffering injuries. Both had to be taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Collisions like this one have both civil and criminal matters involved. The truck in this case had been stolen from Maryland, according to police, who say that the driver was fleeing to avoid being caught.

If you're struck because someone is driving erratically, you may be in a good position to file a civil claim while officers potentially file criminal charges. The police have not reported what charges the driver will face in this case.
