Bus crash leads to 15 injured, 1 fatality near Washington, D.C.

Car and bus accidents can be incredibly dangerous for those involved; in buses, there are often no seat belts, and the items passengers brought with them on board can easily be thrown around, causing others to be struck by luggage and other items. When these accidents happen, many people suffer the consequences, just like in this case.

One person was fatally injured and another 15 suffered mild to moderate injuries in a collision involving a tour bus just south of Washington, D.C. According to the news, the crash took place at around 5:10 p.m. in Mt. Vernon, Virginia.

The bus, which was carrying Chinese nationals including around 18 passengers and the driver, collided with another vehicle. It's not clear who was at fault for the accident at the time of the news report. The person who was killed was a passenger on the bus, while the other vehicle contained only two people whose conditions were not released.

According to the story, 15 people were taken to the hospital following the accident with three in critical condition. At the scene, around 20 people, all witnesses to the collision, helped free victims by helping to push the bus upright. Inside, passengers had been trapped and unable to get the help they needed.

Cases like this aren't uncommon; buses carry many passengers at a time and high injury counts are not unheard of. If you are hurt in a bus crash, the driver or other vehicle's driver may be able to be held liable for any medical care or lost wages you need to have covered.
