Emergency rooms are busy, but that doesn't excuse negligence

Emergency rooms are very busy departments in most hosptials, especially in large cities like Washington, D.C. Many people assume that hospital emergency rooms are busy because of life-or-death situations like heart attacks, severe traumas, and similar catastrophic injuries. That, however, isn't necessarily the case.

Many people use the emergency room as a primary point of medical care. People who don't have medical insurance or the money to shell out for a co-pay might go to the emergency room for a condition like a stomach bug or the flu. It is often assumed that people who are seeking non-emergency care are clogging up the emergency departments in a manner that prevents actual emergencies from being able to be properly cared for.

We understand that if you head to the ER, you likely feel so desperate for medical care that you are willing to deal with the wait and experience of the hospital. There isn't any reason why you should recieve substandard care just because you went into the ER. Instead, you should receive the care you need. This is especially true if you needed stabilizing care when you arrived at the ER.

If you went to the ER and didn't receive the care you should have, you might have suffered harm. That harm might lead to increased care costs down the road. We can help you to explore your right to seek compensation if the care you received wasn't up to the standard of care. Just because you had to go to the ER doesn't mean that you should have to deal with medical negligence or malpractice.
