5 killed in horrific accident at Maryland intersection

Speeding, drinking and driving, and other negligent acts are dangerous and put people's lives at risk. Even negligent people understand that fact, but if they still put your life at risk, then you deserve the chance to seek compensation and to make a claim in court. That's what one woman who survived a horrific crash in Washington, D.C., is doing now as the only survivor in the victim's vehicle and the mother to two of the fatally injured victims.

A man in Washington, D.C., has been charged with negligent manslaughter following a crash that took the lives of five people. The man had been traveling at over 70 mph when he struck the tail end of the victims' vehicle, which had been stopped at a red light near an intersection. The man now faces five counts of negligent manslaughter as well as charges for driving under the influence and others.

At the time of the accident, which took place close to Washington, D.C., in nearby Maryland, the man's blood alcohol content was listed as 0.14, which is close to twice the legal limit throughout the United States. When his vehicle collided with the other car, it forced the car through a red light and into a pole, crushing parts of the vehicle. Inside, two sisters were killed. They included a 32-year-old woman and 34-year-old women. Between them, they had 10 children who now don't have a mother.

One woman survived the accident, but her two children, a 1-year-old child and 13-year-old child, were fatally wounded. A 21-year-old woman was also killed in the crash.
