What are the most common car accident injuries?

Car accidents happen fairly often, and not surprisingly, they are can cause serious injuries. Every time you get behind the wheel, you're putting yourself at risk of being hit by a negligent driver. While the driver may be held accountable for your injuries, you still have to live through them. In an accident, these are some of the most common reasons for injuries.

One of the most common car related injuries happens when you're injured by flying objects. When you get into a car accident, it's not just the impact that is dangerous. If a window shatters, you could be cut by flying glass. If you had open, hot beverages sitting in a cup holder, you could be burned by hot liquids. Coolers, books and other items can become serious hazards during a sudden stop, even if you don't end up crashing.

Another serious problem is being thrown from the vehicle. If you don't wear a seat belt and stop suddenly, you could be thrown through a window and out of your vehicle. If your windows are open, it's possible to be thrown from the vehicle in a roll-over situation. Even if you're not moving quickly, being thrown from your vehicle can result in serious injuries like broken bones and head trauma.

Another possible way to get injured during an accident is if you get cut by your vehicle. The impact of an accident can force the car's body into odd shapes and positions, exposing sharp edges that you're not meant to see. With the impact forcing you to move unwillingly, you could be pushed against one of these crumpled sections. That could lead to lacerations or other injuries.
