Pepperidge Farm recalls potentially dangerous product

When you go to the store to purchase groceries, you expect that the labeling on the packages is accurate. This is especially important for people who have allergies. For those people, something as simple as one omitted ingredient can prove troublesome. In some cases, it can be deadly. Our Washington, District of Columbia, readers might be interested to know of a recall issued recently for Pepperidge Farm bagels after a notification from a bakery about the potential presence of nuts in products that don't normally contain nuts.

Around 46,000 packages of bagels are being recalled because they might contain traces of nuts. That fact alone can prove deadly if a person who has a nut allergy comes into contact with the bagels. While no illnesses have been reported yet because of this problem, it is vital that anyone who has an allergy or sensitivity to nuts, namely peanuts or almonds, be aware of this allergen-related recall.

The recall covers 23 states, including the nearby states of Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. The dates on the bagels include dates from Feb. 7 through Feb. 12. Cinnamon raisin bagels, everything bagels and plain bagels are included in the recall. Additionally, some mini bagel flavors are included. These are the brown sugar with cinnamon, whole wheat and cinnamon raisin flavors of mini bagels.

Anyone who has gotten ill because of mislabeling has the right to seek compensation for the effects they suffer because of that mislabeling. Understanding product liability laws and how to file claims can help you to exercise this right.
