Wrong way driver causes fatal moped versus flatbed truck accident

A member of the District of Columbia Fire and EMS made a statement that said accidents like the one that killed a woman on a moped take a toll on the workers. He went on to say that despite the horrific event, the D.C. Fire and EMS members are still trained to respond to those serious accidents.

The accident that seems to have made an impact on the man was one that occurred on one of the city's busiest streets. The driver of a flatbed truck was driving the wrong way on 36th Street. He crossed Connecticut Avenue and slammed into the 36-year-old woman driving the moped.

One man who witnessed the accident says that four people came running out of a nearby fire station to help the woman. He says they were doing CPR, starting an IV and working on her right away. Despite those valiant efforts, the woman died from the injuries she suffered in the horrible accident.

The accident is still under investigation, but charges haven't been filed against the flatbed driver who caused this moped versus truck accident. Whether or not charges are filed, the fact remains that the woman who was just going about her life while riding her moped on Connecticut Avenue is dead, and her family is left to suffer.

Learning that a loved one was killed in a wrong-way truck accident is an experience nobody wants to go through. Once the initial shock wears off, family members of people killed in truck accidents might decide to pursue legal action to hold the responsible party accountable. Knowing the applicable laws can make this part of the journey toward closure easier.
