Trucker killed after truck crash caused by negligence

In many truck accidents, it's more often the case that the trucker survives, since the truck can provide more protection during an accident. However, in this situation that took place in Virginia, a fuel tanker driver was killed due to a woman's reckless driving, according to the news from Washington D.C. The May 16 report states that the woman has been charged with reckless driving along I-66 since the truck crash resulted in a man's death. Further investigations could lead to more charges.

The woman had allegedly been driving on I-66 in a Toyota Corolla when she spun out of control and struck a truck at around 2:40 a.m. The 23-year-old woman's vehicle caused the truck to run off the side of the highway and to overturn. The driver, a 61-year-old man from Virginia, reportedly died at the scene from his injuries. The woman, fortunately, was not injured.

Police have reported that the man had been using a seat belt when the accident took place, although that did not prevent his death. According to the news, his truck had been loaded with around 8,000 gallons of fuel that could have ruptured or caught on fire. Fortunately in this incident and for the people around it, the truck stayed intact.

Police reported that the fuel had to be offloaded from the truck to allow it to be turned upright. At that point, it could be removed from the scene, and the accident could be further investigated. The accident is still under investigation, but police have not yet reported any alcohol or drug use with this accident. They have also not reported that speeding was related to the cause of the accident.
