Teens can suffer brain injuries in car accidents

Teens who are just learning how to drive and those who ride with friends who are new drivers are at a higher risk of being involved in an accident. Car crashes are the primary cause of traumatic brain injuries in teens who are 15 to 19 years old. It is crucial that anyone who has a teen takes the precautions necessary to help reduce the risk of them suffering from a TBI in a car accident.

One thing that parents must do is to ensure that teens who are able to drive have plenty of practice. Teens should understand the importance of wearing a seat belt. If the teen is allowed to drive with passengers in the vehicle, they must ensure that the passengers all wear seat belts.

Teens who are getting their driver's license for the first time will use the graduated license system in Washington, DC. This can also help to increase the safety of teens who are driving. With these licenses, the teens have extra restrictions that they must follow. This gives them a chance to prove that they can handle the responsibility of driving on public streets.

Because the brain injuries that teens can suffer might range from mild ones to severe ones, it is imperative that teens understand the risks of these injuries. In many cases, teens don't think ahead about what can happen to them if they don't behave in a safe manner. If you are injured by a teen driver, you might opt to seek compensation for the injuries you suffer in the accident.
